Located in the heart of Lancaster Pa.. this is a nice little amusement park that is designed for families with smaller kids. Most of the rides are designed for kids under eight and include things like bumper cars, train rides, and swings.. It not as large or glitzy as some theme parks but there are alot of water rides and a sort of kiddie "lagoon" with water slides and squirt guns.. Kids will be delighted by the costumed characters, shows, games and facepainting. You can also soak up some local Amish culture while you're there. The park is located in the heart of Amish country and there are plenty of Amish buggyrides, tours and restaurants within walking distance to the park.

Idlewild Park

This a low key, family friendly theme park nestled in the mountains of Ligonier pennsylvania.. It has a low tech, slightly rustic 1950's feel to it. Inexpensive too! The admission is only $30.00 per adult..A season pass is only $60.00..midway games are still only a dollar, and it even allows visitors to bring their own food, which can be eaten and even grilled at picnic stations around the park. There are some unique attractions at Idlewild, such as wooden roller coaster from the 1930's, storybook forest, (trick-or-treating during storybook forest in the fall) This is where little kids can meet and greet their favorite storybook characters, and a lifesized version of Mr. Rogers neighborhood with its own trolley ride. there are many other rides and attractions, including a very large water park. Visitors should plan to stay two days if they want to see and do everything the park has to offer.

Dorney Park in Allentown Pa offers something for every age group, with lots of bigger thrill rides like the Dominator with a 200 feet free fall, Possessed, the Talon, Steel Force, or Hydra, (the only floorless roller coaster in Pa), and the Screaming Swings.. There are also plenty of not so scary rides for less adventurous souls. Smaller children and tots will enjoy camp snoopy, tot spot and wildwater kingdom water park, as well as a petting zoo and other activities. Starting weekends in mid September is the best time to go. This is when the Halloween festivities begin with trick or treating, treasure hunts and Halloween fun houses for the kids during the day. At night the ghouls come out and the park turns into a giant house of horrors.

Open from May to October Sesame Place is usually thought of as a water park (which it is) but there are also alot of regular amusement park rides as well as gymnasium type atttractions that involve physical activity. Smaller kids will love scaling the bright blue cone known as Cookie Mountain, climbing the inside of a three story high cargo net or jumping up and down on a giant sesame street themed air mattress..There is an arcade and puppet shows featuring sesame street characters. When not on stage performing Big Bird, Elmo, and company are available to pose for a photograph with your child so bring a camera.
